GENERAL INFORMATION
- Whether the TI-5000EX is used with quadrature pulse incremental
encoders, serial Pulsecoders, or resolvers the basic operation is simple and consistent. The DSP
interface unit quickly connects to an unused RS232
serial port or USB port on the PC. The one time installation of the user interface software on the PC is very
quick and easy. The WinTI5000EX interface software is a windows application which can run under
Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 Pro, or XP. A shortcut can be put on your Windows desktop for starting the
program.
Encoders connect to a removable 14 pin terminal block (and in some cases a 12 pin terminal block). A
7 pin terminal block is used for connecting resolvers. Test cables may be purchased from Mitchell
Electronics, Inc. or fabricated by the user. Many test cable pinouts are documented in the user manual.
The encoder under test may be powered by the TI-5000EX or an external source. The TI-5000EX provides
excitation voltage for resolvers, and the frequency and amplitude may be set by the user.
Results from each test may be logged to a disk file or to a printer for documentation purposes. The
reporting software provides for the user's company information to appear on the report.
