RESOLVER TESTING
The TI-5000EX (with resolver option) provides support for resolver checkout using built-in resolver
decoding circuitry. The resolver under test plugs into a 7 pin connector on the TI-5000EX. The TI-5000EX
provides excitation and receives the sine and cosine signals from the resolver outputs via this
connector.
The excitation frequency and amplitude is set up using the WinTI5000EX setup screen. The
frequency is adjustable in 4 ranges: 1,000-2,000, 2,000-5,000, 5,000-10,000 and 10,000-20,000 Hz.
using a dropdown menu as shown in the sample screen.
Another dropdown menu allows for setting the excitation amplitude.
The TI-3011 Resolver Breakout Board provides convenient test points to allow easy oscilloscope
connection for viewing excitation, sine, and cosine signal waveforms to further aid in setup.
The Resolver Data Display shows resolver angle, vector level, sine and cosine amplitudes as well
as excitation setpoints as shown in the sample screen. The
vector level is the square root of the sum of the squares of the sine and cosine amplitudes.
Ideally, this value should remain constant as the resolver is rotated. The vector level display
provides an additional tool to check for resolver signal integrity.
