Kyle is our Senior Product & Training Specialist. He’s held many positions at Mitchell Electronics over the years. These days he spends most of his time in development and customer support, with technical support being his main area of responsibility. Let’s learn a little more about him with four quick questions.
Hi Kyle. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I was born in 1983, raised in Philadelphia, PA. I fell in love with music at an early age and pursued it my whole life, all through grade school and college, eventually getting a master’s degree in music in 2007.
I met my wife, also from Philadelphia, in college and she eventually brought me out to Athens, Ohio in 2007 so she could get her Master's in English from Ohio University. We fell in love with this beautiful area, I found a great job here, and we eventually settled in with a house and kids. I've got two girls now, Isis age 10 and Ivy age 7. They keep us plenty busy, but we still make plenty of trips back to Philly to see family.
When and why did you join the company?
I joined Mitchell Electronics in October of 2007. I moved to Athens just a few months back in May. Finding a job in this small town looked bleak for those first few months. I read an ad in the local newspaper looking for someone with some basic wiring and electronics skills, and the rest is history!
What’s the best part about working at Mitchell Electronics?
There's almost too many to list. First and foremost, the whole Mitchell family are the best employers you could ever ask for. They made me feel like family right away. They are kind, patient, flexible, hardworking, and put employee well-being at the top of their list.
The work environment here is calm and quiet and the work schedule can be flexible when needed. They were very supportive of me pursuing my musical career at the same time. I've worked for so many different employers over the years, and this is the best there is. I strive to be a better employer for them. It's a match made in heaven.
Thanks for your time, Kyle. Last question. Any hidden talents or hobbies?
I suppose my 'hidden talent' is that I'm a professional saxophone musician. Though most people know me as the sax player and my 'hidden talent' is electronics - and my day job!
I was fascinated by electronics at an early age. My dad was a computer programmer, and he was always bringing home the latest tech. I was getting around in MS-DOS as a youngster, taking everything apart to figure it out, building PCs, learning about electricity (the hard way). Even as a kid, people used to bring me their electronics to fix, and my track record was pretty good! So, to me, that was my hidden talent. Finding a career in that field has been supremely rewarding.
