Victor is a product and training specialist; his primary responsibilities include technical support and customer training. Most of his time is spent working directly with customers, helping them with troubleshooting issues, answering technical questions, and making sure they feel confident using our products.

He also supports the sales team with prospects across Latin America, helping bridge the gap between technical requirements to start their projects and practical solutions.

Here are four questions for: Victor Contreras

Hi Victor. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I was born in 1996 and raised in Mexico City. Growing up, I spent a lot of my time skateboarding with friends, it was a big part of my childhood and probably where I first learned patience and persistence (after falling more times that I can count).

I also had the opportunity to live in Toronto for four years, which helped me develop my English and experience different cultures at a young age. That time really shaped how I see the world and made it comfortable connecting with people from different backgrounds.

Later, I moved back to Mexico and finished high school in a small town named Uriangato, located in the south of Guanajuato state, where I met my fiancée. We are planning to get married soon, so that’s something I’m really excited about.

At 20, I moved to Guadalajara to study Mechatronics Engineering. I quickly fell in love with the city, especially with the food, the energy, and the constant movement. It’s also a great place for big manufacturing and tech companies, which has made it the perfect place to start building my career.

What’s the most interesting or satisfying part of your job?

When I first joined Mitchell Electronics, I didn’t know much about servomotors. What’s been exciting is realizing how essential they are to modern manufacturing companies. Many systems rely on precise movement, and that precision starts with the motor.

I’ve really enjoyed learning about feedback devices, encoder systems and understanding how they keep machines running accurately. But the most satisfying part is working with customers, helping solve issues and supporting their growth.

It’s rewarding to know that our work helps keep their operations moving.

With regard to manufacturing or servo motor repair, is there anything unique about your region compared to the US, for example?

In our region, especially around Guadalajara, many large manufacturing companies choose to replace a servomotor when a production line goes down. In many cases, local teams may not specialize in servo motor repair, so companies end up spending large amounts of money by replacing equipment instead of repairing it.

At the same time, many manufacturers across Latin America are still becoming familiar with our products and services. That creates a great opportunity for us to provide support and training, helping customers extend the life of their equipment and reduce downtime. Being able to bridge that gap and support their growth has been very rewarding.

What does a typical weekend look like for you? What do you enjoy doing away from work?

On weekends, I like to start my day slowly, usually by making my morning coffee at just the right temperature. It’s a small ritual, but it sets the tone for the day. I enjoy catching up with family and friends whenever I can. Staying connected with them is very important to me.

My fiancée and I also love exploring Guadalajara’s food scene. The city has incredible regional cuisine, but we enjoy trying everything from Korean BBQ and seafood to Italian dishes or even local street stands. There’s always something new to discover in this big city.

We also like visiting some of Guadalajara’s historic spots. The city has a lot of character, and it’s great to see how well those places are preserved for both locals and visitors.
